Student-teaching is for the brave.

Hello Art Educators!
I have made my way through the first month of student-teaching, and I have survived. It has been a trial by fire; and feared I would fall - smack dab on my face. As I approached the doors of MEMS, Mt. Elden Middle School on my first day, I feared the kidz might see only their grandma; or worst yet, a very foolish adult who knew nothing about teaching art. . .but, the kidz have embraced me, and I them.
The first week of teaching was really like trying on my water-wings, or so… Continue

Sorry I did not do any email for many days as my computer is acting wonkie and I could not connect to the internet. Of course I would love to do that. Oh, my...I just read my comment below and it was almost exactly last year and my kids are driving through this coming week end on June 5,6, and 7. I plan on seeing if they want to do the Art Walk on Friday night. They have 5 kids and will have been driving all day...It would be good for all of them to walk around and see everything, hear the jazz and just stretch their legs. Lets do your suggestion...I like that. This Art Walk I hope to do with my son and grandkids. If they can't make it... I would still like to do this one. I think I was graduating on the last one or finishing my capstone senior project.

Hi Jules,
Monday and Tuesday were scuttled by a dead battery on Monday which took me 4 hours to get handled and then I had to reschedule my project review appt with my teacher and that was then moved to after class on Tuesday. Tomorrow is Wed and I am going to Sedona after class to see my grandkids passing through and I don't know what will be going on after that. I have much to do in my Arts of China class to complete my project to give my oral report next week. Stay in touch. My Latin classes start in June.

Thanks for writing. I love the tesselation/M.C.E. art/math lesson. I am convinced that if Art History were taught in all levels of school that ALL subjects would holistically appear and would result in the best education over all including actual studio classes for hands on experience and student engagement.

Hello Jenn, Good to see you in Pam's 43l class!

The ISTEP program presents discourses in many various topics, and one must find their voice rather quickly. I am holding my own and trying to evolve with the group. It is a structured class in the 'constructivist' format with three professors at the helm. I start going to a high school or middle school next week. Wish me luck,
Jules
